Privacy Policy

Vocalcord is designed around a simple principle: we don't want your data. This document explains exactly what the Vocalcord iOS app does and does not do with information related to you.

What we collect

Nothing. Vocalcord does not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal information. Specifically:

• No account creation or login is required or offered.
• No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting SDKs are embedded in the app.
• No advertising identifiers, device fingerprints, or tracking pixels.
• No contact lists, photos, microphone access, or location access is requested.
• No data is sent to Vocalcord's servers — in fact, Vocalcord has no servers that receive user data.

What stays on your device

The following data is stored locally on your iPhone and never leaves it:

• Your selected sound — the sound you've chosen to play when your charger is connected.
• Your purchase status — whether you've unlocked the premium sound pack, managed via Apple's StoreKit framework.
• Imported audio files — any sounds you've imported from your own library stay in the app's sandbox on your device.

This data is stored using iOS's standard UserDefaults and file system APIs. It is automatically deleted when you uninstall the app.

Third-party services

Vocalcord integrates with two Apple frameworks that you should be aware of:

Apple StoreKit (In-App Purchases)

When you tap "Unlock All Sounds" or restore a prior purchase, the app uses Apple's StoreKit framework to process the transaction. Apple handles the payment, verifies the receipt, and informs the app whether you've purchased. Vocalcord never sees your payment method, Apple ID, or billing information. Apple Shortcuts (Automation)

Vocalcord exposes an App Intent ("Play Charge Sound") that the iOS Shortcuts app can trigger. When your charger is connected and your Shortcut runs, iOS asks Vocalcord to play a sound. This happens entirely on your device — no data is transmitted anywhere. You can remove the Shortcut at any time in the iOS Shortcuts app.

Children's privacy

Vocalcord is rated 17+ in the App Store for infrequent mild crude humor. The app does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13. Because we collect no data at all, we have no data to delete or share.

Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)

Privacy laws such as the GDPR (EU) and CCPA (California) give you the right to access, correct, or delete personal information held about you. Because Vocalcord holds no such information, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete. You can remove all data associated with Vocalcord by uninstalling the app from your device.

Changes to this policy

If we ever start collecting data — we don't plan to — we will update this page and require in-app acknowledgment before any new collection begins. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.
