Frequently asked questions
The sound doesn't play when I plug in my charger
Vocalcord uses the iOS Shortcuts automation framework to detect the charger. Make sure you've completed the setup:
- Open the iOS Shortcuts app → Automation tab
- Confirm you have an automation for "Charger → Is Connected"
- Verify it's set to "Run Immediately" (not "Run After Confirmation")
- Verify the action is "Play Charge Sound" (from Vocalcord)
If it's still silent, check your phone isn't in silent mode and your volume is up.
I imported my own sound but nothing plays
Vocalcord supports .mp3, .m4a, .wav, and .aiff files. Very long files (more than ~30 seconds) may be truncated. Try re-selecting the sound in the Vocalcord app to confirm it plays from the preview, then reopen your Shortcut and re-add the action.
I paid but the sounds are still locked
Tap "Restore Purchase" on the paywall screen. This asks Apple to re-check your purchase history and unlock your sounds. If that doesn't work, email us with your Apple ID receipt (found in your email inbox) and we'll sort it out.
Can I get a refund?
All purchases are processed by Apple, so refund requests go through them. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find your Vocalcord purchase, and request a refund. Apple decides — we don't see the transaction.
Does Vocalcord work on iPad / Mac / Apple Watch?
Vocalcord is iPhone-only for now. The charger-plug automation relies on iOS Shortcuts triggers that are most reliable on iPhone. iPad and Mac versions may come later.
Can I suggest a sound?
Yes. Email us with a description or a link to the sound you want. We add community-requested sounds to the monthly packs.
Can I use these sounds commercially?
No. The sounds bundled with Vocalcord are licensed for personal use only within the app. See our Terms of Service for details.
